Light after dim

As you might recall, our kitchen had light from two small windows, a center overhead light and a small light over the sink hidden by the hated scalloped trim. Before previous renovations, the kitchen had many more light sources and switches to enable their function that we can see from the demo. The powder room had just one overhead light and no power outlet so, for example, we could not use it beyond its basic functions. Drying hair or charging a toothbrush? Nah

Today, the electricians finished installing what will be more than a dozen ceiling lights in the kitchen and bath, including multiple GFC outlets so that both rooms are fully lit (with no scallops), are fully functional, up to code, and carefully insulated, which the previous space was not. Here is a glimpse:

Much more open windows and a ceiling full of lights:

The team primed the new cedar shakes to side the addition matching the rest of the house, but the paint company sent the wrong paint so we still have the base shell.

And I will end with Saoirse, who struggles all day with the construction noise and voices that don’t belong to Dan or me, and how she chills—even when it’s hot—after the crews leave for the day.
