Sometimes it’s best to emulate the dog

Saoirse (Sir-sha) enjoys the quiet outside while her peoples struggle with ongoing lack of progress.

Yesterday, we had been told that work would continue today even though our tile subcontractor will not work here unless he has ALL the tile he needs for both the kitchen and bathroom, even though if he finished the kitchen tile, we could have plumbers start installing the kitchen plumbing. What is frustrating to homeowners is great for the dog who doesn’t feel the need to chase/play with the workers all day.

While owners whine about no progress on the oh-so-close new kitchen and bath, we tried to enjoy an early evening learning more about huge breaking news all day. (I am a former political investigative newspaper reporter. My first focus on political news began when I was 13 and gripped by Watergate.) Our neighbor started trimming bushes in his yard, and apparently trimmed the fiber-optic cable that provides our internet. We work from home so this is more significant than throttling my news consumption. Dan found a workaround for our ability to follow the news, but his programming work will be very difficult until the cable is repaired.

I guess we could say we had some “update” in that the tiler removed a bunch of tools and saws from our garage to use on another project so that now we can actually use it for the car. Maybe the lesson in these weeks of halting work and minimal progress is to enjoy every moment of benefits–even it they don’t mean you can stop cooking in the basement.

Like a very good dog!
