Counters!

Nearly a month after the discovery that the kitchen hadn’t been measured accurately—which caused delays that continue—our new counters are installed!

The cabinets are obviously not finished because of the replacement parts, notably the island cabinet and a tall cabinet that will be at the far left against the wall.
The counters are black quartz with tiny little flecks that reflect light.
The island is not in the right place until we get a replacement cabinet.

The counter installation was a pleasant surprise because we had been told they wouldn’t be available until Friday. Then the truck showed up in the early afternoon. This is great news on its own, but it also means that when the tile guy is done with the new bathroom, which he had been working on last week and this, he can install the kitchen backsplash and then we will be ready for appliances! Theoretically.

Unfortunately, we have no idea when the replacement cabinets for those that didn’t fit will arrive. Our worker T, who is the cabinet guru, suggested that work can continue while we wait and we may have a functioning kitchen in (relative) no time!

        Actually, she does! To install the counters, workers had to clear all the crap off the partially placed cabinets and take away a ton of demo equipment. Now she can—and does—enjoy wandering around the kitchen!
