Today, our handcrafted craftsman furniture arrived for our new morning room! Here’s a quick look:

As we noted earlier, the original owners and designers likely used this room as a “morning room” where the woman of the house enjoyed the light from the east facing windows (in the second picture, above), to plan their day and entertain guests. At least several of the more recent owners have used the space near the kitchen and back door as an office. Of course, a morning room was an “office” of sorts.
We chose the furniture from a craftsman who specializes in Craftsman style to fit the evolving “modern Craftsman” style of the house as we have imagined it. Our neighbor graciously helped Dan move the (fairly heavy) furniture in as the crews worked on painting, etc. Thanks Ken!
It is now a comfortable, restful space that we will enjoy together (the sofa is comfy!) and will be a great place for planning, grading, and hosting Zoom meetings with students. We will need to repaint it, but aren’t crazy enough to put more stress on!
Side note and a big recommendation for common areas like this: the neutral rugs are machine washable to enable us to easily keep clean while not breaking the bank! They’re made of sustainable cotton. We’ve had another one in our mudroom for years and they hold up amazingly well with regular washing and (line) drying. Slip in comments if you want a link!
