Dramatic finish (not in a good way)

All of the major work on our renovation is complete after 8 months! This afternoon, J1 finished the new master bathroom window and the ceiling guys finished the (fourth, or is it fifth) kitchen ceiling repairs.Two-hundred and forty nine days after we started, we finally had a quiet house into which we could start to move. As we piled new towels into the our spa-master bathroom closet, Saoirse became, again, a reno victim.

Saoirse relaxes in the family room as she recovers from treatment for ingesting dark-chocolate brownies.

The ceiling guys had moved a plate of brownies away from the safe place we had stashed them to be safe themselves from paint—nicely so! However, we hadn’t noticed the brownies were now in snout reach. Saoirse did. When I came down from futzing over towel placement, Saoirse was licking her chops.

Vet call #254! (I’m making that up, but it’s plenty.) In case readers do not know, chocolate—particularly dark chocolate like these brownies—can be fatal to dogs. The vet gave us a way to give her an emergency treatment, the details of which I will spare you. It worked, as least as far as we and the vet know two hours later. Fortunately, I caught the thief right away and Dan got the vet on the phone right away. And, of course, thank goodness we have a fantastic vet!

With Saoirse on the mend, my students’ grades posted, and not a single worker scheduled to visit, it’s time to clean and, and, and…

Perhaps relax at least by moseying around the house freely.

I’ll update with photos when we (at least mostly) moved into the spaces. It’s lovely, but I’m with Saoirse now.
